Sweating in the dark
Hmmmm..we here are working in the dark. Well..for such a big company, this is just too bad to have the lights, AC's powered off. Even some servers have been requested to be powered off. Insane, I mean how can such a big like ours (no..i'll not tell you the name) be so bad when it comes to power backup? This is just getting to frequent. I certainly dont think this to be any form of cost cutting, rather poor design and planning of the campus. Oh..by the way, the campus is new. Mind you, not an old one by any standards. The hot summer is just making worse. I'm sweating and smelling..just imagine working like that? I guess, its a lot better even at home. There must be some thing seriously wrong the way the campus is administered.
Voter's ID details online
Well, amidst so much of chaos during the issue of the voter's ID card, the ID card details of the people already having an ID card is available online. (thanks to rohit)
http://www.bangalorevoterid.org/
Finally, web is being used well by the govt organizations. It makes a lot of sense to have such a website. Infact, it would be more useful, if it could allow to apply for ID cards online with the scheduled date of issue. It only provides an online form (pdf format) to be downloaded. This must be submitted at the corresponding offices (which is what I want people avoid). However, having such a website is just the first step. Hopefully the power of web is used well by the government organizations.

IPL could saturate viewers
Uff!! So many matches in IPL. Its hard to track so many matches. Infact, just six matches have completed. I'm suddenly feeling there are way too many matches. May be because of the ICL matches. I've tracked every match of ICL and IPL so far. Perhaps, it is making me think so. But just imagine, this is just the beginning. Another 38 matches. I wonder if IPL would still be able to attract so many people? The stadiums atleast at the premier centers like Bengaluru, chennai, mumbai, kolkatta are able to draw full crowd. But the lesser centers like jaipur hardly have so many people watching. People might just stop watching, if there's so much cricket. But having thought so much, I would still watch all the matches of IPL. Perhaps go to the stadium to watch some matches and continue to support Royal Challengers as well :-).
Go for Tata Sky - Review
Just go for Tata Sky. As simple as it gets. No other options is even worth considering. I've evaluated all the options.I say Tata Sky is best of all. Clarity is just first grade. The entire process is just professional. No hassles what so ever. Right from the subscribing to tata-sky, installations, recharging the account is just seamless. It takes approximately 3 days to receive the set-top box. Once the hardware is received, call the toll-free number (for BSNL/MTNL) for installation. The Tata Sky guys gave a date when the installation engineers would come for installation. To my surprise, they landed on given time, a surprise given how we Indians operate. It took around 2hrs to finish the installation which includes fixing the Dish stand, the dish and the checking for the signal. Once this is done, just connect the set-top box to TV.
Connectivity:
Connect the A/V output of set-top box to A/V input of the TV, similar to how you connect your DVD player. The engineers who come for installation give you a good demo of all the features. The quality is just amazing even on my 1988 old TV. Now I'm thinking of not changing my TV at all :-). After the installation, you are given 3 days to recharge the account. There are two ways of recharging:
1. Telephonic recharge
2. Recharge from www.tatasky.com
I chose the second option. Just go to tatasky.com, register your subcriber-ID, use your credit card and recharge. It shows up immediately onto your account. Its approximately 30mins for you to get the alert on your set-top box. Oh!! yes, you do get alerts about your account status on the set-top box. The alert shows account balance, next due date to recharge account.
Over all, nice experience. Though I'm paying a little more than I used to pay my local cable operator, its satifying. Really satisfying!!
Cons:
1. The set-top box hung just twice. Solution is just to poweroff the set-top box and restart :-).
2. When set-top box is powered on (cold boot), the volume is just set to the maximum. So if you have speakers attached (like mine) beware of the loudness.
