Startups During Recession

Hmmm..something to be thought about. I read this very interesting article from Paul Graham about this topic. Just read through. I found it very interesting though. Yes may be true as well. Why to Start a Startup in a Bad Economy

Visiting Wikipedia

These days I've been a very frequent visitor to Wikipedia.org. Search on any term technical/non-technical, I first try it out at Wikipedia.org only then I resort to Google, which seems weird to most ppl..Infact its a little weird to me as well. But its true, it has a amazing amount of information. And the fact that it lets you to add more information to the existing just makes it very useful. Its now become an important website to visit for me :-).

Ramp-up time; testing time

Well, having switched to a new domain, I'm into the rampup of the new domain. Tho it is nice, it is tough. Particularly for someone like me, who after 4yrs going through this process. It really needs good motivational levels to read, understand the domain and in the process start with the actual work assigned. In particular the time between 1:30 to 2:30 is the toughest..invariably I get sleep during this time. Thats y i've resorted to writing this blog. Its 2:10pm now :-) and pretty sleepy as well. Anyways coming back to ramping up..it needs a good reading habbit as well.

Calendar Archive view

I have always wanted a Calendar view for my blog archives. Today found one from Calendar View. It seems to be making the page load slow. Even if that is ignored, the layout is not too good. Looks like I have to bring out my debugging skills with this as well :-).

Update:
Well, finally I have managed to make some changes to the calendar view for the archived blog posts. The view seems ok now for me, after a lot playing around with the CSS. Infact the actual javascript code I have picked up from Blogger Archive Calendar. I have tested the view on Firefox 3.0, IE7 and Google chrome.

First Impressions

I have recently joined a new IT company. A smaller company as compared to my previous company Hewlett-Packard. Infact a much smaller company. It has been only 3 days since I've joined. I should say the experience has not been bad. The work culture seems good. However, for me it would surely take sometime to get adjusted. The comfort of HP is surely not there. The culture pretty much seems to be of the "Startups Culture". More importantly, people seem happy staying with the company :-). So I might have landed at the right place. However, at the personal level, I surely am missing my friends from HP (Nigel, komal, ranju, rajesh and sanjeeva). The other factor is that, the work is in a totally new domain which is making me more anxious about the kind of work I would get to doing. For me the work I do is very very important and also hope the people whom I work with are good. I have always believed in working with friends as it has always brought the best out of me :-). Just hoping the time ahead is good :-)
